Northern Cyclones Premier Assistant Captain Anthony “Scotty” Swain is taking his talents to Post University, announcing his commitment over the weekend.

Swain has spent the past two seasons on the Cyclones Premier team, and was part of the National Championship squad in the 2022-2023 season. Head Coach Bill Weiand said that Swain, “was a key member of our championship last year.” During their playoff run, Swain scored five goals and added six assists. He set a career high 25 assists that season.

Through 14 games in the 2023-2024 season, Swain has four goals and seven assists. “He has been great so far this year, and I know he is going to do great things at Post in the next four years,” said Coach Weiand. “I know Post is getting a player who can have an impact right away on and off the ice with his ability to skate, his speed, compete level, and maturity.”

Reflecting on his time with the Cyclones, Swain said he feels prepared to play at the next level. “I’ve grown as a player and person here and I’m proud to call this place home,” said Swain. “Coach Bill and Coach Fred have been instrumental in my development and I couldn’t ask for better coaches to play for. I’m very grateful to be a Cyclone, and I can’t wait to keep this year going with the guys!”

Swain he had an instant connection with Post University Head Coach Richter. “I could tell as soon as I met Coach Richter that he truly cares about the program,” said Swain. “He played at a very high level and his knowledge of the game really drove me to Post. The majority of the student body are athletes so everyone there has a common goal and is there for the same reason. I’m honored to commit to Post and I’m excited for the future!”
